Next week, our year 6 pupils will sit their SATs between Monday and Thursday. Throughout the year, our teachers have been helping them to prepare for their SATs by developing their literacy and numeracy skills.
Although the tests will be used to determine the current learning level of each pupil, we want to reassure both parents and pupils that low scores are nothing to worry about. You can find more details in our letter to parents.
We understand that tests can cause children to feel under pressure and become anxious, but we are making every effort to help them relax, feel at ease, and understand that the tests will not define them or their time at school or their long term futures.
Free Breakfast Offer:
Every day during SATs week (starting on Monday 9th May), we are inviting our Year 6 children to arrive at school at the earlier time of 8am for a free, nutritious breakfast. We will provide cereals, toast and drinks for the children to enjoy. Having a healthy breakfast has so many benefits and we believe that this will go some way in further supporting them with their SATs. Attending the breakfast will also help children who may be feeling anxious or worried about the tests to settle, as their friends and teachers will be on hand to offer them support and encouragement. We encourage all Year 6 children to attend the free breakfast. You do not need to sign up – just please send them in!
If you have any questions about the tests, or any concerns that you would like to discuss with us, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We wish all of our pupils the best of luck in their tests, and we are confident that they will get the results that their hard work deserves.
