School years are not just a time for classroom learning, but also for identifying passions and hobbies. Here at Gorse Hill Primary School and Nursery, we conduct a wide range of after-school clubs, all of which are aimed at giving our students the best school experience possible. These clubs allow them to follow their passions and develop individual skills and talents.
By taking part in these clubs, our students are able to develop an array of transferable skills, including confidence, imagination, teamwork, coordination, focus, creativity, and determination. Honing these attributes at an early age sets our students up for success not only at school, but also in their adult life.
At Gorse Hill we run our after school clubs on a full term rotation - meaning from September until Christmas, from Christmas until Easter, and from Easter until the Summer. We don't run clubs during the first, or last week of the full term in order to prepare for the start of the next term's clubs.
We will send out details of the clubs we will be running before the end of the previous term. These details will include the days, times, and number of spaces available.
The price of each club depends on which clubs are on offer. To sign up for a club, you will need to pay on ParentPay before the closing date. After the closing date, the item will be removed from ParentPay and the places will be fixed for the term.
Spaces will be limited so ensure you sign up straight away.
If spaces are still available on a club, we may re-open places during half-term. This will then be offered at a reduced cost to match the number of sessions available.
If you have any queries about clubs and how they work at Gorse Hill, feel free to inquire in the school office.

Musical Theatre Club – Years 2-6 – Thursdays
We are delighted to have Creating Classroom Talent run a Musical Theatre Club on Thursdays.
Miss Taylor has experience working as a drama teacher in early years and primary education covering various schools across South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Swindon and surrounding areas
She is delighted to be working with our school running a Musical Theatre Club where children will learn skills in the three disciplines of Drama, Dance and Singing. This will result in a showcase being performed to parents every term.
Martial Arts Club – Years 3-6 – Tuesdays
We believe that Martial Arts is an education and compliments what your children are learning at Gorse Hill Primary School; respect, self-discipline, better concentration and confidence. Our program not only encourages more exercise but also teaches your children how to be more aware of their surroundings and how to avoid confrontation. The classes are fun and they will have the chance to grade and work towards becoming a Black Belt. Although it will be run as an after school club your child will follow a full Leadership Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do syllabus.
Dance Club – Years 1-6 – Thursdays
2Step Dance Academy are a local dance school based in Swindon and have been running for 5 years. Our experienced instructors strive to develop the confidence of children through the art of dance, nurturing them in a safe environment whilst having fun and keeping active! Miss Lauren is keen to pass on her love of dance to the children of Gorse Hill Primary School with friendly, fun and high energy classes for children who are interested in dance and performance.
Why Join a Club?
Young people’s skills start to grow and evolve from an early age, and their time at school plays a significant role in shaping their attributes and personality. By taking part in our after-school clubs, students enhance their social skills and enjoy spending time with other children outside of the classroom. They also develop a range of other attributes, depending on which club they attend.
At the heart of The White Horse Federation is a belief in using collaboration to provide a first-class education to a wide range of children. This means that every child understands what they are capable of, and can collectively strive for excellence.
