As a class we have been reading the story What the Ladybird Heard. The children have been looking at farm animals and bugs and learning how to describe them in our writing. In art and DT activities, the children have looked at different materials and tools for joining, such as split pins and a hole punch. They have made ladybirds using paper plates and split pins to show how the ladybirds open their elytra (the shell) to use their wings.
They have also been looking at objects that roll to help them think about tyres they can use to make a getaway car for the robbers (Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh) in our story. The children have begun making and designing their getaway cars using junk modelling and joining materials.
In PE, the children have been getting into the football spirit, learning how to stop, roll and pass a football to their friends. We have even began playing mock football matches and learning some simple rules.
